Multi-Point Tape Winding Machine for Metal Strips and Rigid Rods WM-475

CE Certified HS Code 8479.89 ≈6 s per taping point

Get a quote for WM-475 →

The WM-475 lays tape bands at several set positions along one workpiece in a single clamping — a left-hand pulling device feeds the metal strip or hard round rod through the head, the clamp holds it, and the rotating tape head wraps each programmed point in turn at about 6 seconds per point. The point list on the control screen carries ten slots (seven of them active in the machine photographed here), so total cycle time is the number of points you set, not a fixed station time. It runs on two-phase AC220V at 1 kW, measures 800 x 600 x 560 mm and weighs 90 kg.

Key features

  • Several taping points per load — the machine indexes along the workpiece and bands each enabled point in sequence, so a part that needs seven bands is one clamping instead of seven separate hits
  • Left-pull feed — a powered pulling device on the left draws the strip or rod through the taping head while the clamp holds it square, instead of the operator repositioning the part by hand between bands
  • Cycle time scales with the job, not the machine — about 6 seconds per point, so a two-point part and a seven-point part cost what they should
  • Jobs are recalled by name — the main screen carries a stored formula and a diameter setting, plus shift counters with reset, so a part change is a recipe change
  • The rotating tape head sits under a hinged transparent guard on the long infeed/outfeed deck, providing a guarded work area; follow the operating and isolation procedures when loading or servicing
  • Free sample test — send 2–3 of your actual strips or rods and tell us where the bands go; we tape them on this machine and send you the video before you order

What it processes

  • Tape bands at several fixed positions along one metal strip or hard round rod
  • Insulation, anti-abrasion and identification bands on flat bar and rod stock
  • Replacing hand-taped multi-point banding where the band count and band positions are the same on every part

Suited for: parts that need the same set of tape bands in the same places every time — a single metal strip or hard round rod, fed by the left-hand puller, clamped square, and banded point by point at about 6 seconds a point. The control screen in the gallery shows the point list with seven points enabled out of ten slots, which is exactly how the job is set up: you tell the machine where the bands go, and the cycle length follows the part.

Not suited for: wire harnesses and anything soft or branched. Continuous spiral coverage of a bundle belongs on the WM-4136 extended-height tape wrapping machine (Φ3–40 mm, no wrapping length limit); harness runs that need to be pulled through the head belong on the WM-471 taping machine with cable traction (1,050 mm pull length, ±1 mm position accuracy); small bundles from Φ3 to 12 mm belong on the WM-4105 bench spot taping machine. If your part is a rigid pipe or rigid wire between Φ6 and 28 mm and needs one band rather than several, the pneumatically clamped WM-4205 is another station to assess; formed coils and long bundles up to 2,500 mm and 30 kg go to the two-station WM-464. The full range is at tape wrapping.

Tell us the band positions on your drawing and send 2–3 sample parts with the tape you use. We run them on this machine and send you the video — you count the points and check the band positions yourself before anything is ordered.

WM-475 — common questions

How many taping points can the WM-475 place in one cycle?

The point list on the control screen carries ten numbered slots, and the machine photographed for this page has seven of them active — the display reads 7 points. The specified cycle is about 6 seconds per point; total efficiency depends on how many points you set. Maximum point count and spacing are confirmed on the quote. Send us your part drawing with the band positions marked so we can validate the configuration.

Which workpieces does it take, and which does it not?

The specified workpiece is a single metal strip or a hard round rod — a rigid, straight part that the left-hand puller can feed and the clamp can hold square. It is not a wire harness machine — soft multi-branch bundles, loose leads and anything that needs continuous spiral coverage along its length are outside it. For continuous spiral wrapping of harness bundles from Φ3 to 40 mm with no length limit, use the WM-4136 extended-height tape wrapping machine; for powered traction taping of wire and harness over a 1,050 mm pull, the WM-471; for spot and spiral taping of bundles Φ3–12 mm, the WM-4105.

What should I provide to confirm the configuration?

Send the workpiece width, thickness or diameter, required band positions and tolerance, plus tape material, width and roll size. We confirm the working range and winding-position accuracy with your quotation. The specification lists 1 kW at two-phase AC220V, 800 x 600 x 560 mm and 90 kg; confirm the electrical supply configuration before installation.
