Key features
- Reduce repeated hand operations: automatic tape application, feeding and tape cutting take over the recurring tape-handling steps on straight harness sections.
- Reduce twisting in thin leads during wrapping: pneumatic clamps hold the work while synchronized rotation at both ends helps reduce twisting. We check the result on your actual wire and tape.
- Set the wrap for each job: adjustable speed and turn count let you match the wrapping cycle to the required coverage, then inspect the finished sample before repeating the job.
- Use tapes with release liners: the machine is particularly suited to mica, ceramic and acetate tapes with release liners. We demonstrate the wrapping sequence with your specified tape grade.
- See your own assembly run before ordering: we test your wire or small bundle with the specified tape and send a video showing loading, wrapping, cutting and the finished sample.
What it processes
- Repeated tape wrapping of thin, straight wires and small harness bundles within 3–10 mm
- Automotive harness sections requiring repeated tape application and cutting
- Wrapping trials with mica, acetate, ceramic, PVC, fleece, high-temperature or cloth-based tape, particularly mica, ceramic and acetate tapes with release liners
Our WM-4138 brings clamping, tape application, feeding and tape cutting into one wrapping station for thin, straight harness sections. Both ends rotate together to help reduce twisting, while the operator can adjust speed and turn count for the required wrap. The front support tray keeps leads close to the working area.
Suited for: repeated wrapping jobs on 3–10 mm wires and small harness bundles, including straight sections of automotive harnesses. We test the actual wire, tape and end fittings together so you can see how the complete part loads and how the finished wrap looks.
For other jobs and machine options: bundles above 10 mm; our WM-467 automatic wire harness taping machine covers 3–30 mm bundles. If the job needs a defined powered pulling stroke, our WM-471 harness taping machine with cable traction provides a 1,050 mm pulling length. For operator-guided feeding at a bench, our WM-4137 benchtop wrapper covers 3–25 mm bundles.
Send your wire or bundle diameter, finished part length, required wrapped length, tape grade and roll dimensions. We run the sample and send a video of the full working sequence, then confirm the wrapping length, tape fit and utilities on the quote. Start your WM-4138 quote with the tape width and the size or a photo of the part to wrap. We’ll use those to check the wrapping setup.

WM-4138 — common questions
What work is the WM-4138 designed for?
We use this machine for repeated wrapping of thin, straight wire and harness sections within 3–10 mm. Pneumatic clamping and synchronized rotation at both ends help reduce twisting while the machine applies, feeds and cuts the tape. Send the complete part, including connectors or branches that affect loading, so we can demonstrate the handling.
Which tapes can we use?
The compatible types are mica, acetate, ceramic, PVC, fleece, high-temperature and cloth-based tape. The machine is particularly suited to mica, ceramic and acetate tapes with release liners. Send your tape grade and roll dimensions with the sample; tape width and roll compatibility are confirmed on the quote. A tape type alone does not establish the insulation or temperature rating of the finished harness.
Can we load a larger bundle?
The working diameter range is 3–10 mm. Send a sample so we can check how your single wire or small bundle fits the pneumatic clamps; do not force a bundle into clamps that do not fit it. For bundles above 10 mm and up to 30 mm, see our WM-467 automatic wire harness taping machine. We test the support and wrapping result on your sample.
How is it different from the WM-4137 and WM-471?
Our WM-4137 benchtop wrapper handles 3–25 mm bundles with operator-guided cable feeding. The WM-4138 combines pneumatic clamping, synchronized rotation at both ends and automatic tape handling for 3–10 mm work. Our WM-471 traction wrapper provides a specified 1,050 mm cable pulling length for spot or continuous taping. We confirm the WM-4138 wrapping length on the quote after reviewing your part.
What output can we expect from the 4,500 rev/min speed?
The 4,500 rev/min figure is the main unit rotation speed. Finished output also depends on loading, wrapped length, turn count and tape handling. We run your sample and send the working-cycle video so you can assess the complete sequence; the production rate for your job is confirmed on the quote.
What power, air supply and language will the machine need?
The power supply specification is 220/110 V; specify the required supply before ordering. For your delivery, we set the voltage for your country and ship the English interface and manual. Pneumatic clamping requires an air supply; air pressure, air consumption and total machine power are confirmed on the quote.
Which dimensions should we use for installation planning?
The specification table lists both the image datasheet and web specification dimensions. We confirm the final footprint before ordering so you can plan the installation around the confirmed machine dimensions.
What will the sample trial show?
Send representative wires or harness sections, the tape grade and roll, required wrapped length, coverage and turn count. We send a video showing loading, the wrapping cycle, tape cutting and removal, followed by close views of the completed wrap. We check whether the leads stay aligned and whether the start, overlap and finish meet your requirements.
How do we plan for wear parts?
For the tape-cutting blade and other wear parts, every quote lists them with unit price and the location they ship from. We include the operating and replacement procedures with the machine.
