Semi-Automatic Lithium Battery Tape Sticking Machine for Flat Cells up to 400 × 400 mm WM-476

HS Code 8479.89 Flat cells to 400 × 400 mm 1,500–1,800 pcs/h

The WM-476 is a bench-height tape sticking station for flat lithium batteries — the operator lays the cell on the table, hits the foot pedal, and the machine feeds, cuts and presses tape onto both sides and the top side of the cell. It covers workpieces up to 400 × 400 mm and 1 to 8 mm thick, places tape to ±0.15 mm and runs 1,500 to 1,800 pieces per hour under a Mitsubishi PLC and touch screen, on SMC and AirTAC pneumatics and Taiwanese linear guides.

Key features

  • Built for flat battery cells, not round bundles — the workpiece lies flat on the table and the tape head runs along its edge, so there is nothing to thread through a rotating ring
  • Covers cells up to 400 × 400 mm and 1 to 8 mm thick, with ±0.15 mm placement accuracy quoted by the factory
  • Foot pedal starts the cycle so both hands stay on the cell — load, tap, unload, at 1,500 to 1,800 pieces per hour
  • Tape is fed off a tensioned reel, held flat on a perforated vacuum rail and pressed down by pneumatic fingers, then cut — feed, cut and press all happen inside one stroke
  • Adjustable side clamps and a located work table repeat the same tape position piece after piece instead of relying on the operator's eye
  • Mitsubishi PLC and touch screen, SMC and AirTAC pneumatics, Taiwanese linear guides — spares your maintenance team can buy locally
  • Free sample test — send us your cells and your tape, we run them on this machine and send you the video before you order

What it processes

  • Insulation taping on flat lithium battery cells, module plates and cover sheets up to 400 × 400 mm
  • Edge banding of cell wrappers, mica and insulation boards from 1 to 8 mm thick
  • New energy battery pack assembly where tape position has to repeat within ±0.15 mm
  • Harness shops that also build battery pack assemblies and want the cell taping step on the same floor as their wire lines

Suited for: flat lithium battery cells, module plates and insulation boards up to 400 × 400 mm and 1 to 8 mm thick, taped on both sides and the top side at 1,500 to 1,800 pieces per hour. The last photo in the gallery is what comes off the machine — two flat plates with tape banded cleanly around the full perimeter.

Not suited for: round wire harness bundles, which need a rotating tape head — use the WM-4136 extended-height taping machine for Φ3–40 mm bundles, the WM-465 desktop continuous taping machine for Φ2–15 mm, or the WM-4105 spot taping workstation for programmed bands on Φ3–12 mm bundles. It is also not a rework tool — for taping cells and tab stacks by hand at a repair bench, the cordless WM-4112 battery cell taping gun is the right tool and needs no bench footprint. And if your largest cell fits inside 150 × 150 mm, this frame is more machine than the part needs — the WM-477 high-temperature tape pasting machine gives you the same 1–8 mm thickness, the same ±0.15 mm accuracy and the same 1,500–1,800 pcs/h on a 60 kg, 500 × 700 × 540 mm cabinet instead of a 150 kg frame. Cells thicker than 8 mm or larger than 400 × 400 mm fall outside this table — the factory offers both as customization, so send the dimensions through custom machine sourcing and we will scope it.

Tell us the cell format, the material thickness and the tape you use. We run your samples on the actual machine and send you the trial video before you place the order.

WM-476 — common questions

Is the WM-476 a wire harness taping machine?

No. The workpiece here is a flat lithium battery — a cell, module plate or insulation board up to 400 × 400 mm and 1 to 8 mm thick — laid flat on the table while the head tapes its edges. It cannot spiral wrap a round harness bundle. For harness work use the Φ3–40 mm WM-4136, the Φ2–15 mm desktop WM-465 or the Φ3–12 mm spot taping WM-4105; all three are linked below.

How does the 150 mm tape length fit with the 400 × 400 mm taping size?

Those are two different limits in the factory's table. Max. taping size 400 × 400 mm is the largest workpiece the table takes; tape length ≤ 150 mm is the length of tape laid per application, and the factory notes that longer can be customized. Send us your cell dimensions and the tape run you need per side — we confirm the actual stroke on the machine and tell you whether it needs the customized version, rather than guessing from the datasheet.

Is the touch screen available in English?

The unit photographed at the factory has a Chinese language HMI; the hard buttons on the panel are labelled in both Chinese and English. We do not publish an English interface claim we have not seen, so ask for it in your inquiry and we will get the language options confirmed in writing before you commit.

What utilities does it need on the floor?

It is a pneumatic machine — SMC and AirTAC cylinders and valves — so it needs a compressed air supply, and one of the gallery photos shows the machine set up next to a small compressor. The factory's published table lists no voltage or power rating and we will not invent one; tell us your supply (110 V or 220 V, 50 or 60 Hz) and we will have the electrical specification and the compressor requirement confirmed on your quotation.
