The WM-577 cuts flat strip and sheet materials from 1 to 160 mm wide with one blade that runs heated up to 350 °C or stone cold — hot for webbing, woven labels and battery sleeve that need fused edges, cold for nickel strip, copper strip, aluminum foil and insulating paper that must stay burr-free. An ARM controller with a large LED screen programs lengths from 0.1 mm up to 999.99 m at 0.1 mm accuracy and turns out 120–150 cuts per minute on 50 mm pieces. The 33 kg bench unit draws 500 W on 220 V.

Suited for: flat strip and sheet stock from 1 to 160 mm wide, cut straight and square — nickel strip, copper strip, steel strip, aluminum foil and enameled wire cut cold; webbing, woven labels, battery sleeve, fiber tube and wax tube cut hot with sealed ends. Not suited for: material wider than 160 mm — pick the WM-572A hot knife webbing cutting machine up to 220 mm, or the WM-575S roll-to-sheet cutting and slitting machine up to 1,220 mm. Round rope with sealed ends runs on the WM-561 hot rope cutting machine (up to Φ20 mm), heat shrink tube on the WM-565N heat shrink tube cutting machine (up to Φ38 mm), and rigid copper, aluminum or armored pipe on the WM-183 metal tube cutting machine.
