Automatic Braided Sleeve Taping and Cutting Machine for OD 8–30 mm Tube WM-177
The WM-177 wraps non-elastic adhesive tape around braided tube at the programmed cut point, then cuts through the taped band — both new ends leave the machine bound, with no loose or frayed strands. It processes nylon and metal braided tube from OD 8 to 30 mm with tape 10–20 mm wide, the number of winding turns freely settable, and crawler feeding that grips the tube without crushing it. Cutting speed is 350–400 pieces per hour at 800 mm length with a smooth, burr-free cut face. The floor-standing unit measures 1700 × 600 × 1500 mm, weighs about 380 kg and runs on 220 V, 50 Hz, 1.8 kW with 0.6 MPa compressed air.

Key features
- Tape-then-cut sequence — the taping head binds the tube at the programmed position and the blade passes through the middle of the band, so both the cut piece and the remaining tube keep wrapped, fray-free ends
- Works on metal braided tube as well as nylon — braids that cannot be melt-sealed still come off the machine with bound ends
- Winding turns are a recipe setting and the holder takes standard non-elastic adhesive tape rolls 10–20 mm wide — no special consumables
- Crawler feeding carries the tube between toothed belts instead of pinch rollers, holding feed length without crushing the braid, and on-line cutting lets the machine sit at the end of an existing line
What it processes
- Nylon and metal braided sleeve cut to length with bound ends for wire harness over-braiding
- Automotive, EV and appliance harness plants that kit pre-cut protective tube by the thousand
- Cut-to-length tube pieces with taped ends for resale or assembly kitting
Suited for: nylon and metal braided tube from OD 8 to 30 mm that must arrive at assembly cut to length with bound, fray-free ends — taped at the cut point in the same machine cycle. Not suited for: plain corrugated conduit that needs no taping — the WM-177FY high-speed corrugated tube cutting machine cuts Φ4–32 mm loom far faster; flat braided sleeve and webbing that only need sealed ends belong on the WM-568 hot cutting machine, whose heated blade fuses material 1–100 mm wide; and taping along an already assembled harness — without cutting — is the job of the WM-467 wire harness taping machine for bundles Φ3–30 mm.

WM-177 — common questions
Why wrap tape before cutting instead of just cutting?
A plain cut through braided tube leaves free strand ends that unravel in handling. The WM-177 first wraps adhesive tape around the tube at the programmed position, then cuts through the center of that band — the tape stays on both sides of the cut, so the finished piece and the remaining tube are both bound. Unlike hot cutting, this also works on metal braid, which cannot be sealed by melting.
The sample photos show corrugated tube — can it run corrugated conduit too?
Yes — the taped-and-cut demo pieces in our gallery were produced on this machine from corrugated loom. The factory data lists nylon and metal braided tube as the primary tube types; if your material is different, send us a sample and we will run it and send you the result before you order. For plain corrugated conduit that needs no taping, a dedicated high-speed cutter is the faster, cheaper choice.
What tape does the machine use and how much does it apply?
Standard non-elastic adhesive tape, 10 to 20 mm wide, loaded on the roll holder. The number of winding turns is set on the controller per job, so you can trade tape consumption against how firmly the end needs to be bound.
