The WM-9323 cuts steel wire rope up to Φ20 mm to programmed lengths from 0.1 to 99,999.9 mm, at 20 to 80 cuts per minute depending on length. A stepper-driven crawler belt pushes the rope to length through a guide bushing, and a pneumatic booster cylinder drives a flat blade against a V-form die in a single stroke — the rope is seated and held in the die groove at the moment of the cut, so the strands stay laid together instead of springing open. Lengths are set on the touch screen. The machine measures 1,080 × 500 × 1,100 mm and weighs 120 kg net.

Key features

  • The cut is a single pneumatic shear stroke against a V-form die, not a saw or an abrasive wheel — no sparks, no heat tint on galvanising, no swarf to clean out of the strands
  • Rope is seated in the die groove and clamped as the blade lands, which is what keeps the lay closed so the end still enters a ferrule, thimble or aluminium sleeve
  • Crawler belt feeding grips over a long contact area instead of two pinch points, so heavy rope is pushed to length without slipping or being flattened out of round
  • Die pair and rope guide bushings are changed to match the rope diameter and construction — the tooling set shown in the photos is what sizes the machine to your rope
  • Free sample test: send 2–3 m of your actual rope, we cut it on this machine and send you the video of the cut ends before you order

What it processes

  • Cutting galvanised and bright steel wire rope blanks for slings, thimble-and-ferrule loops and swaged assemblies
  • Pre-cut rope lengths for balustrade and architectural cable, garage door cables, fitness and playground equipment
  • Marine, agricultural and lifting rope kits cut to repeat lengths for distributors and assembly shops

Suited for: steel wire rope cut to repeat lengths — up to Φ20 mm — where the cut end has to stay closed enough to enter a ferrule, thimble or swage sleeve on the next operation. Not suited for: synthetic rope, cord and webbing that must leave the machine with heat-sealed ends — a cold shear cannot fuse nylon or polyester, so pick the WM-561 hot rope cutting machine, which seals as it cuts up to Φ20 mm. Single-strand steel wire up to φ3 mm — the kind that has to be pulled straight off the coil before it is cut — belongs on the WM-595 steel wire straightening and cut-to-length machine, which runs a nine-roller straightening head ahead of the cutter and cuts from 0.1 to 9,999 mm at 1,500–2,000 pieces per hour. Solid metal tube and pipe belong on the WM-183 metal tube cutting machine (Φ1–30 mm, copper, aluminium, stainless and armoured pipe), and insulated wire that also has to be stripped belongs with the wire cutting and stripping machines.

Steel wire rope is a newer material on this catalogue than cable and conduit, so we treat every enquiry as a trial job: send 2–3 metres of your rope with the diameter and construction, and we run it before either side commits to tooling.

WM-9323 — common questions

Do the strands stay closed at the cut, or does the rope birdcage?

That is the whole reason this machine uses a pneumatic press and a V-form die rather than a fast blade. The rope drops into the groove of the lower die and is pinched there as the upper blade comes down, so the strands are held in their lay while they shear. In our sample photos the cut faces come off compact and flat rather than splayed, which is what a ferrule or swage sleeve needs. Rope construction still matters — a loose-lay or large-diameter rope may still want a serving or a pre-crimped sleeve at the cut point, so send us rope and we will show you the actual result on your material.

Which rope diameters and constructions can it take?

The specification sheet gives Φ20 mm as the cutting diameter. Below that, the fit is set by tooling rather than by the machine — the guide bushing bore and the die groove are matched to the rope, and the photos show a set of guide bushings alongside the die pair. Tell us the diameter and the construction (6×7, 6×19, 7×7, 1×19 and so on) with your inquiry so the right guides and die are quoted with the machine.

What length tolerance can I hold?

The specified length range is 0.1 to 99,999.9 mm. Length tolerance is confirmed on the quote for your rope and cut length. Send rope; we cut a batch, measure the finished lengths and send the measured results with the trial video. Feed accuracy depends on rope stiffness and surface.

What supply does it need, and why is the rated power only 560 W?

Because the cutting force comes from compressed air, not from a motor. The electrical side only has to run the stepper feed, the controller and the screen, which is why the plate rating is AC 220 V, 560 W. The required working air pressure and air supply are confirmed on the quote. State your supply voltage in the inquiry as well and we confirm the build before production.
