Suited for: bench crimping of loose and reel-fed continuous terminals onto wire ends that have already been stripped, where 2,000 kg of force is enough and the operator wants a heavy, low-vibration frame under the press. Not suited for: stripping the wire at the same station — the WM-3120BT strip-and-crimp machine does both on AWG 32–20 wire — and not suited for making finished leads unattended, where the WM-3202 automatic double-end crimping machine cuts, strips and crimps AWG 18–28 at 3,800+ pcs/h.

The whole argument for this machine is the frame. The factory casts the body in one piece instead of folding and welding it from sheet, and states that this is what keeps the crimping pressure steadier and the running noise down. That is the manufacturer’s claim about its own construction, not a measurement — no decibel figure and no crimp-height repeatability figure is published for this model, and we have left both out of the specification table rather than fill them in.

What is published is the working envelope: 2,000 kg of force, a 0.75 kW pure-copper motor under frequency-conversion control, AC 220 V / 50 Hz, 50 kg, and 280 × 320 × 650 mm. Speed is set from the counter panel on the front of the column, which also carries zero/reset, auto/manual and continuous-run keys. Terminals arrive either loose or on a reel carried by the swan-neck holder; the applicator sits on a bolted die base with a fine adjustment knob and a graduated crimp height adjuster on the ram.

Two ton is a working limit, not a suggestion. Above it, the WM-3130T servo crimping press covers 8 to 30 tons with crimp-fault alarms, and the WM-3135T presses cable lugs up to 120 mm² at 35 tons. For hexagonal lug crimping without changing dies, the WM-3218 is a 13-ton hydraulic bench unit.

If you already run a WM-3102T and are adding a second press, note that the two are rated identically at 2,000 kg and 750 W — the WM-3229 differs in the cast body, the 280 × 320 mm footprint and 50 kg weight, and in being published for 220 V / 50 Hz only. WM-3229 — common questions

How is the WM-3229 different from the WM-3102T, which is also a 2-ton press?

Both are rated 2,000 kg with a 750 W motor, so the crimping job is the same — the difference is the machine underneath it. The WM-3229 is built on a one-piece cast iron body, measures 280 × 320 × 650 mm and weighs 50 kg, and is published for AC 220 V / 50 Hz only. The WM-3102T is the sheet-metal bench platform that the factory publishes in seven force versions from 1.5 T to 10 T; the 2.0 T version measures 240 × 270 × 650 mm, weighs 55 kg, has a published 30 mm stroke (40 mm customizable) and is available for 220 V / 50 Hz or 110 V / 60 Hz. Pick the WM-3229 if you want the cast frame; pick the WM-3102T if you need 110 V, a published stroke figure, or a different force in the same family.

What is the stroke and the crimp height adjustment range?

The factory does not publish a stroke figure or a crimp height range for this model, and we will not quote numbers it has not given us. The machine does carry a graduated crimp height adjustment on the ram — visible in the tooling photographs — and the die base has a fine adjustment knob. Tell us your terminal and we will get the stroke and adjustment range confirmed in writing before you order.

Does it strip the wire as well?

No. The WM-3229 is a press only — the operator presents an already stripped wire end to the applicator. If stripping has to happen at the same station, the WM-3120BT strips and crimps AWG 32–20 wire in one cycle. If you want the whole lead made automatically from spooled wire, the WM-3202 cuts, strips and crimps both ends at 3,800+ pcs/h on AWG 18–28.

Which applicators and terminals will it take?

The factory lists computer, automobile, motorcycle, AC, DC, loose and continuous terminals, and the machine is pictured with a reel-fed applicator on a bolted die base. It does not publish an applicator standard for this model, so terminal geometry has to be checked case by case — send a strip of your terminals and 2–3 metres of your wire and we will confirm applicator fit and return sample crimps.

How quiet is it really?

The manufacturer's stated reason for the cast iron body is steadier pressure and lower noise, but no decibel figure is published for this machine and we are not going to invent one. If noise level matters for your workshop, we will run the machine with a sound level meter in frame and send you the video with the reading.
