Cable Coil Stretch Film Wrapping Machine WM-4818
The WM-4818 is the packing station at the end of a coiling line — it wraps a finished cable coil in stretch film so it can be shipped as a clean, self-contained package. A C-shaped film ring passes through the coil bore and orbits the coil cross-section while support rollers index the coil around, laying a continuous spiral of film over the whole ring. It takes coils from 120 mm inner diameter up to 400 mm outer diameter and 50 to 120 mm high, at approximately 120 coils per hour, with wrap turns, speed and head/tail turns set on an English touch screen.

Suited for: wrapping already-wound ring coils in stretch film — coil bore 120 mm or larger, outer diameter up to 400 mm, coil height 50–120 mm. Not suited for: winding or tying the coil itself. To wind the coil, use the WM-4810 wire coiling machine with meter counter (inner hole 30–350 mm, 380 mm reel) or the WM-4813 meter counting coil winding and tying machine (coil inner diameter 50–280 mm, outer diameter 350 mm, bundle Ø 18–65 mm), both of which can be set to produce coils that sit inside this machine’s wrapping envelope. To only tie a coil rather than film it, the WM-4804 cable coil twist tie binding machine ties bundles of Ø 5–35 mm. For coils above 400 mm outer diameter, step up to the WM-4821 large cable coil stretch film wrapping machine (coil Ø 420–550 mm, height 110–125 mm). Where it sits in the line
Every other machine in this category makes a coil or holds it together — this one turns the coil into a shippable package. A typical finished-goods line runs coil, tie, wrap: the WM-4810 or WM-4813 winds the measured coil, a tie holds the turns, and the WM-4818 films it. Until the coil is wrapped it is still a loose bundle — it picks up dust on the pallet, the outer turns slacken in transit, and the customer receives something that looks like scrap length instead of product. Stretch film compresses the turns, seals the coil against moisture and dirt, and gives the coil a face that a label sticks to.
How the wrap happens
The film carriage does not swing around the outside of the coil. It rides on an open C-shaped ring that passes straight through the bore, so the film goes around the coil’s cross-section the way tape goes around a doughnut. Because the ring is open at the top, the operator drops a closed coil onto the support rollers without cutting or threading anything. The rollers then index the coil forward between wrap cycles, so successive spirals of film overlap all the way around the circumference and come back to the starting point.
That is also why the head-end and tail-end turn counts are separate fields on the screen. Extra turns at the start anchor the film tail; extra turns at the end close the wrap so it does not peel back in the carton. Wrap count and running speed are set per product and stored as a program, so a factory running three coil sizes switches between them from the screen instead of re-teaching the machine.

What coil sizes does the WM-4818 accept?
The stated envelope is a minimum inner diameter of 120 mm, a maximum outer diameter of 400 mm and a coil height of 50 to 120 mm. The inner diameter matters most, because the film ring has to pass through the bore of the coil. Send us your coil dimensions and we confirm on a sample video before you order. Larger coils go on the WM-4821 large cable coil stretch film wrapping machine, which covers 420–550 mm outer diameter and 110–125 mm height; anything outside both envelopes is handled as a custom machine build.
Does the machine wind the coil as well?
No. The WM-4818 is downstream of the coiler — it wraps a coil that is already wound. What stretch film does it use, and how much does one coil consume?
The standard roll is 26 mm inner diameter, 65 mm outer diameter and 63 mm wide — an ordinary mini stretch film roll. Consumption per coil depends on the number of wrap turns you program and on the coil cross-section, so we quote film usage against your actual coil during the sample test rather than as a fixed figure.
How fast is it in practice?
The manufacturer states approximately 120 coils per hour, and also states that the figure moves with coil size and film specification. A small 150 mm coil with few wrap turns runs faster than a 400 mm coil wrapped tightly, so treat 120 per hour as a reference rate for planning, not a guaranteed one for every product.
Is the touch screen in English?
Yes — the interface ships in English, with the run parameters and the START, RESET, EM-STOP, alarm clear, film load and JOG commands all labelled in English. The film load and JOG commands let an operator thread a new film roll and inch the ring by hand without leaving the screen.
