The WM-1221 is a benchtop pneumatic cut-off station for heavy cable. A high-thrust air cylinder drives a tungsten-steel V-blade down a 50 mm stroke onto a matching V-anvil, severing cable under 160 mm² — up to Φ40 mm as standard — in one shot. There is no feeder, no screen and nothing to program. It runs on 0.4–0.7 MPa shop air and AC 220 V, weighs 35 kg and takes 400 × 450 mm of bench space.

Suited for: severing thick power, welding and EV cable — anything under 160 mm² and up to Φ40 mm outer diameter — where the only requirement is a clean, square end and the length is set by the operator. Nothing to program, nothing to break, and it takes cable thicker than any of our automatic cut-and-strip machines will accept.

When the same cut has to be repeated to a programmed length instead of eyeballed against a mark, the WM-1222 automatic cable cutting machine feeds and cuts 1–150 mm² to length under touchscreen control at about 1,800 pieces per hour.

Not suited for: anything that has to be stripped as well as cut. For cut-and-strip in one pass on thick cable, use the WM-1450 thick cable cutting and stripping machine (10–150 mm², up to Φ30 mm) or the WM-165 round power cable cutting and stripping machine (up to 150 mm², 5–23 mm OD). For multi-core cable where the inner cores also need stripping, the WM-170X rotary blade machine covers 6–120 mm². Blades and anvils are consumable and are stocked as spare parts. WM-1221 — common questions

Does the WM-1221 strip the cable as well as cut it?

No. It is a cut-off station only — one blade, one anvil, one stroke. If you need the cut piece stripped at the same time, the WM-1450 handles 10–150 mm² cable with head stripping to 500 mm and tail stripping to 300 mm on the same pass.

The spec sheet says "cutting length 1–99,999 mm". Does the machine measure the cable?

No, and it is worth being clear about this. The machine has no feeder, no encoder and no length display, so it imposes no limit of its own on piece length — that is what the figure means. Length comes from your own measuring stop, tape or from whatever feeds the cable into the blade. If you need lengths held automatically to a tolerance, you want a programmable cut-and-strip machine instead.

What is the largest cable it will take?

Under 160 mm² conductor cross-section, with cable outer diameter up to Φ40 mm as standard. Above Φ40 mm the blade and anvil have to be made to size, so send us the cable spec and we will confirm what is possible before you order.

Will the cut flatten the conductor or fray the strands?

The V-shaped blade and anvil pair grips the cable from four sides as the blade comes down, which is what keeps a large stranded conductor round through the cut instead of letting it spread. The end face comes out square with the strands held together, which is what you want if the next step is a lug or a ferrule.

What does it need on site?

Clean compressed air at 0.4–0.7 MPa and an AC 220 V single-phase outlet. It is a benchtop unit at 400 × 450 × 200 mm and 35 kg, so it sits on a workbench and can be moved by one person.
