Benchtop Large Cable Cutting and Stripping Machine for 6–70 mm² Power Cable WM-179
The WM-179 cuts and strips multi-strand power cable from 6.0 to 70 mm² — welding cable, battery leads and new-energy harness wire — from an 80 kg benchtop frame instead of a floor machine. A 12-wheel drive feeds cable up to Φ20 mm, cutting lengths to 100 meters at ±0.2% (0.002×L) and stripping 400 mm at the head and 150 mm at the tail; an optional cutting jig extends head strips beyond 400 mm. It processes 1,500 to 2,500 pieces per hour, stores 100 programs on a 7-inch PLC touchscreen, and runs on 220 V at 800 W.

Key features
- Heavy-cable stripping from a bench footprint — 70 mm² welding and battery cable without giving up floor space to a cabinet machine
- 12-wheel drive keeps thick, stiff jackets moving straight so 100-meter cut programs hold ±0.2% length accuracy
- 100 stored programs switch the machine between battery lead, grounding strap and welding whip recipes in seconds
- 800 W on a standard 220 V socket — no three-phase supply and no compressed air to plumb before it earns its keep
What it processes
- Welding cable whips and grounding straps cut and stripped in batch
- Battery, energy-storage and EV service leads from 6.0 to 70 mm² multi-strand cable
- Electrical contractors and panel shops prefabricating large-gauge tails to length
Suited for: multi-strand power cable from 6.0 to 70 mm² (up to Φ20 mm OD) — welding cable, battery and energy-storage leads — where a bench machine has to do a floor machine’s job. Not suited for: cable above 70 mm² or thin hookup wire below 6 mm² — above, step up to the WM-1450 thick cable cutting and stripping machine (10–150 mm²); below, the WM-167 benchtop machine covers hookup wire from 0.1 to 10 mm². Inside this same 6–70 mm² band, batch volume and mid-span windows belong on the WM-197 high-speed big wire cutting and stripping machine — 5,000–6,000 pcs/h with 16 middle-strip sections, traded against end strips that stop at 150 mm instead of 400 mm.
Jacket compounds behave differently under the blade: send 2–3 meters of your actual cable and we run it on this machine on video before you commit. See where large-gauge cut-and-strip fits an EV wire harness line.

WM-179 — common questions
How long can the stripped end be for lugs and busbar terminations?
The head end strips from 0 to 400 mm and the tail from 0 to 150 mm in the standard cycle. When a job needs a bare conductor longer than 400 mm, the optional cutting jig lets the center be cut without limit, so extra-long exposures are still one machine cycle.
Does soft welding-cable jacket get marked by the feed?
Feeding is spread across a 12-wheel drive rather than a single pinch point, which is what lets stiff 70 mm² cable feed straight while soft EPDM and rubber jackets pass without visible wheel marks. Send a sample and judge the finish on your own cable.
What if my cable is bigger than 70 mm²?
70 mm² through a Φ20 mm guide is this machine's ceiling. Above that, the thick-cable machines in the wire cutting and stripping category carry the range to 150 mm² with 32-wheel belt drives.
