We configure the WM-3116B for aviation-style connector contacts and tube terminals after checking your terminal drawing, wire and required crimp profile. This is an alternate build of our WM-3116 servo strip-and-crimp platform, quoted separately. The standard ferrule specification covers 0.5–16 mm², with 0.3 mm² by custom setup, 6–30 mm stripping and approximately 4 seconds per hand-fed terminal. Contact feeding and tooling are matched to the actual part; the sample gallery shows connector contacts, bare ferrules and insulated tube terminals.

Key features

  • We match the contact, guide and tooling to your terminal drawing, so selection starts with the connection you need rather than a connector family name alone
  • Clamping, stripping, optional strand preparation, terminal insertion and crimping share one hand-fed station, reducing transfers between separate bench tools
  • Motor-controlled insertion distance helps position the stripped conductor inside the terminal; we check strand capture and insulation position on your samples
  • Stored settings support repeat jobs, while matched guides and bowl adjustment prepare the station for the next terminal size
  • The gallery includes actual sample photographs and the video shows connector-contact processing; we record your specific contact trial before you order

What it processes

  • Aviation-style circular-connector contact preparation, subject to terminal-specific tooling and sample approval
  • Pre-insulated tube-terminal preparation for control cabinets, drives and electrical assemblies
  • Bare ferrule preparation where the specified barrel geometry and crimp profile match the configured tooling
  • Mixed terminal jobs requiring documented samples and repeatable setup settings

Start with your contact, not just the wire size

An aviation-style connector contact and a bootlace ferrule can fit the same wire cross-section while needing different positioning and crimp tooling. Send the contact part number and drawing together with the wire construction and the required inspection criteria. We check the combination, configure the station and show the result on your actual samples.

WM-3116B is an alternate build of our WM-3116 servo ferrule machine, quoted separately. The supplied specification lists a square four-sided ferrule crimp as standard; it is not a blanket approval for all aviation contacts.

What the photographs and video show

The sample photographs include long connector contacts on blue wires, bare ferrules, and insulated tube terminals on several wire sizes. The tooling box and guide tubes show why terminal geometry matters during setup. These sample styles help you explain your requirement; your exact contact still receives its own feeding and crimping trial.

The video shows hand-fed wires at the front working port, the terminal feed track and internal working mechanism, followed by finished gold-colored connector contacts. It demonstrates contact processing, not an aviation qualification test.

Suited for: hand-fed contact and tube-terminal preparation where the terminal, wire and crimp profile have been matched to the machine configuration.

Not suited for: treating reel-fed open-barrel terminals as loose ferrules. For that process, see our WM-3120BT strip-and-crimp machine. For a connector contact requiring a different forming process, send the drawing through our application-specific machine service.

Send your wire samples, terminal part numbers and required finished connection. We record the trial and agree the inspection checks before you place the order.

WM-3116B — common questions

How is this different from WM-3116?

WM-3116B is an alternate build of our WM-3116 servo strip-and-crimp platform, quoted separately, with this page focused on connector-contact applications and the supplied sample range. Its specification lists 1,500 W and a 535 mm depth, compared with 1,200 W and 520 mm on WM-3116. We confirm the configuration on the quote; these figures are not a claim that one build makes a stronger crimp.

Does the aviation description mean the machine is approved for every aircraft connector?

No. It describes a contact application, not aerospace qualification or approval for every connector. Send the contact part number, drawing, wire and required crimp and inspection criteria. We check the feeding and tooling, run samples and provide the results for your approval. Machine CE documentation does not establish qualification of an aerospace electrical connection.

Can it crimp both connector contacts and bootlace ferrules?

The standard specification is for tube terminals with a square four-sided crimp. Connector contacts require a separate check of barrel shape, crimp profile, positioning and feeding. The sample gallery includes several contact and ferrule styles, but compatibility is confirmed for your actual part and tooling rather than assumed from appearance.

Does every terminal size run without changing tools?

No. Stored settings can be recalled, but the specification calls for manual tooling replacement and bowl adjustment during changeover. The tooling-kit and guide-tube photographs show the different size-matched parts. Your quote identifies the tools and changeover steps for the terminal sizes you send.

Can we use 0.3 mm² wire?

The specification lists 0.3 mm² as a custom setup. The standard range is 0.5–16 mm², and feeding tooling below 0.5 mm² is confirmed on the quote after reviewing your terminal and wire samples.

What will you provide before shipment?

We run your wire and terminals on the configured machine and send a recorded trial with finished samples and the agreed inspection results. We set the voltage for your country and ship the English interface and manual. For wear parts, every quote lists them with unit price and the location they ship from.
