The WM-822 brushes open the shield of screened wire and twists the loose strands into a tight pigtail in one operation, covering conductors from 0.1 to 2 mm² with twisting lengths of 5–80 mm (customizable to 150 mm). A pneumatic clamping plate running on 1.5–2.5 kg/cm² shop air opens automatically — the operator holds the wire in place and taps the foot switch to complete the twist. WM-822 — common questions

Does the WM-822 brush the shield open as well as twist it?

Yes — the rotating head combs the exposed shield strands open and lays them into a twisted pigtail in the same cycle, so a foil-and-drain or braided shield comes off the machine ready for soldering or a ring terminal. For jobs that only need the shield combed open without twisting, the benchtop WM-821 covers that step on its own.

My thick wire slips outward while twisting — what is the fix?

Two adjustments are built in. The chuck clamping force comes from springs, and up to 5–6 springs can be fitted to raise it; if heavier wire still slides, a small groove is machined into the chuck center, sized to the wire, so the strands seat positively during the twist. Chuck opening size is also adjustable at the spindle screw.

What utilities does it need at the workbench?

A 220 V AC 50 Hz outlet and compressed air at 1.5–2.5 kg/cm² — the clamping plate is pneumatic and the cycle is triggered by the included foot switch. If your bench has no air line and you only need shield brushing, the WM-821 benchtop shield brushing machine runs on mains power alone with no compressed air.
