Pneumatic Shielding Layer Cutting Machine for Braided Cable, Shield OD 3–16 mm WM-192

CE Certified HS Code 8463.90 Shield OD 3–16 mm

The WM-192 trims the braided shielding layer off prepared cable ends in one foot-pedal stroke. It accepts shielding layers from 3 to 16 mm outer diameter and cuts the braid to a set length — 2 to 70 mm where a fold-back reserve is kept, 2 to 110 mm where the braid comes off clean, both customizable. Purely pneumatic, benchtop and about 5 kg, it drops into a hand-prep station with nothing but an air line, and the pedal fires the cut while the operator keeps both hands on the cable.

Key features

  • One pedal stroke leaves a square, even braid edge — no scissor fatigue, no ragged strands poking through the termination
  • Set-length cutting keeps the reserved braid consistent piece after piece, which is what fold-back and 360-degree shield terminations live on
  • About 5 kg and purely pneumatic — clamps onto any bench and needs only a compressed-air line, no electrical hookup
  • Foot operation leaves both hands free to hold and rotate the cable against the die

What it processes

  • Shielded cable end prep before EMC gland, ferrule or backshell termination
  • Fold-back shield terminations where a fixed braid reserve must survive hundreds of pieces
  • Rework and small-batch benches that cannot justify a fully automatic shield station

Suited for: manual and small-batch shield trimming — braided layers of 3–16 mm OD cut square to a repeatable length, with or without a fold-back reserve. Not suited for: automatic shield brushing, cutting and fold-back at production volume — for that, pick the WM-181 shield braid brushing, cutting and fold-back machine, which automates the whole operation on OD 3–9 mm shielded cable at 700–1,000 pcs/h. It also does not cut cable to length or strip the outer jacket — upstream of this station, the WM-184X rotary blade cutting and stripping machine handles braided and shielded cable up to 30 mm².

Not sure your braid construction cuts clean? Send 2–3 meters of your actual cable and we run it on this machine on video before you commit — you see the cut edge on your own material, not a demo cable.

WM-192 — common questions

What shield sizes does the WM-192 handle?

Shielding layers from 3 to 16 mm outer diameter, with the braid cut to a set length of 2 – 70 mm when you keep a fold-back reserve or 2 – 110 mm when the braid comes off entirely. Both windows can be customized.

What does it need to run?

Compressed air and a foot pedal — the control is purely pneumatic, so there is no electrical cabinet, no programming and nothing to configure. At roughly 5 kg and 410 × 145 × 155 mm it sits on a corner of an existing prep bench.

What can it not do?

It only cuts the shielding layer — it does not cut cable to length, strip the outer jacket or remove inner insulation, and each piece is loaded by hand. Those steps live with other machines in our wire cutting and stripping range.
